Sep 21, 2017: St Victor Girl's High School, here, on Saturday, September 16, hosted an exhibiton of tools connected with professional education.
The exhibiton was held under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada district panchayat, office of the deputy director of Public Instruction (administration), Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana, Mangaluru, office of education officer, Puttur, association of Dakshina Kannada Professional Education Teachers and St Victor Girls' High School, Puttur.
Puttur MLA Shakuntala T Shetty presided over the programme. She said, "We should preserve values from arts and become good human beings."
Chief executive officer of Daskshina Kannada zilla panchayat, Dr M R Ravi said, "Children should be given freedom so that their talents are unveiled. We should teach them on the basis of their talents. Arts help children form their personality," he said.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy director of public instruction, Dr Y Shivaramayya, the chief guest said, "Our work should be such that it helps the society and country."
Assistant Parish Priest of Puttur Parish, Fr Pravin D'Souza said, "The almighty has bestowed talents on all of us. Our personality develops when we use them."
School convener Fr Alfred J Pinto, Puttur Taluk Education Officer Sukanya and Headmistress Rosaline Lobo were on the dais. Sufala B gave a key note address.
Following are the winners of various competitions held -
First, second and third prizes in tailoring were won by Government High School, Moodbidri, S M P High School, Belvai and Government High School, Mallikatte respectively.
Prizes in horticulture were won by Sri Ramakrishna High School Puttur, Government High School Bangadi and Sri Rama High School, Kalladka.
Winners for SUPW were St Victor Girls High School, Puttur, Anandashrama High School, Kotekar and Ramakrishna High School, Puttur.
First and second prizes under unaided division for SUPW were bagged by Sudana High School, Puttur and St Lawrence High School Bondel.
