A heartfelt tribute and a prayerful condolence programme was held on 17th February 2019 at Mai De dues Church, Puttur. Prier to the programme, a brief introduction was given by Mr. Clement Pinto. Together with Rev. Fr. Alfred J. Pinto & Rev Fr. Praveen D’Souza, a huge number of faithful people of Puttur parish gathered around a banner showing the brave martyrs of India and offered a tribute to the souls of CRPF who were killed in a dastardly terror attack in Kashmir and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Prior to the programme, all the Sunday Masses were offered to the intention of these victims and their families. Followed by the Eucharistic celebration at 9.30 am, the Priest, sisters and a large crowd of faithful people and the children with lighted candles gathered in the church hall in front of a image of brutal and heinous incident that occurred at Kashmir. As a symbol of love and solidarity towards the nation, a silence mingled with floral tribute was offered by V.Rev.Fr.Alfred J Pinto, Fr. Praveen D’Souza, Mr. J. P Rodrigues, Vice President of PPC, Retd. Soldier Mr. Jerome Mascarenhas and Mr. Fabian Goveas - secretary and children.
A short prayer service was conducted and an intense prayer was offered to the Lord to lead the nation and every citizen in the path of truth and non violence. On the behalf of all catholic faithful Rev. Fr. Praveen D’Souza, Asst. Parish Priest Mai de Deus Church Puttur, offered condolences and tribute to the brave soldiers with heart touching words. A few minutes of silence was observed and the universal prayer “Our Father” was recited, followed by a prayer song and few slogans. Mr. Clement Pinto anchored the prayer session.
